Jeffrey Wogenstahl, Ohio

Update: Monday, May 11, 2015 11:51 am EDT

Jeffrey Wogenstahl was scheduled to be execution at 10 am EDT, on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Mansfield, Ohio. Jeffrey’s execution has been postponed. Fifty-four-year-old Jeffrey is convicted of raping and murdering 10-year-old Amber Garrett in Harrison, Ohio on November 24, 1991. Jeffrey has spent the last 23 years of his life on Ohio’s death row.

In January 2014, Dennis McGuire was executed in Ohio using a new two-drug execution process. The execution took longer than expected, with debate over whether Dennis was fully unconscious during the execution.

In January of 2015, Ohio announced that it would not carry out any executions during 2015, in order to allow the state to obtain execution drugs and implement a new execution protocol. Read more information here. Along with this announcement, Ohio also rescheduled all 2015 executions. Jeffrey’s execution is now scheduled for November 16, 2016.

Please pray for peace and healing for the family of Amber Garrett. Please pray for strength for the family of Jeffery. Please pray that if Jeffery is innocent of the crime or lacks the mental competency to be executed, evidence will be presented prior to his execution. Please pray that Jeffrey may come to find a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, if he has not already found one.
