Aric Woodard, Pennsylvania

February 27, 2017

Aric Shayne Woodard was scheduled to be executed on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the Rockview State Correctional Institute in Rockview, Pennsylvania. His execution has been stayed. Forty-three-year-old Aric is convicted of the murder of 2-year-old Jacques Twinn on November 7, 2011, in York, Pennsylvania. Aric has spent the last three years of his life on Pennsylvania’s death row.

Around 8 pm on November 6, 2011, Aric Woodard arrived at the home of Hayley Twinn to baby-sit her two children: two-year-old Jacques and his one-year-old sister. Allegedly, Woodard was romantically interested in Hayley, however she was not. Woodard was to babysit while Hayley went out with another guy.

According to Woodard, he left the two children alone to go to a nearby store and when he returned, Jaques was sitting on the kitchen floor covered in feces. Woodard claimed he smacked Jaques, and grabbed him by the ear, ordering him to go upstairs and clean himself. When Woodard went up to check on Jaques, he was slumped over unconscious in the bathtub. Around 2:30 pm on November 7, 2011, Woodard ran to the neighbor’s house and asked them to call the police.

A doctor testified that Jacques died of blunt force trauma to the head and torso. Jacques was beaten so severely that he had fatal lacerations to his liver and brain trauma. The doctor testified that these types of injuries were usually only seen in victims of vehicle crashes. Additionally, there was evidence of numerous older injuries that had started to heal, and injuries on top of those injuries, plus the injuries that killed him. There was also severe internal bleeding, making it impossible to determine how many times Jacques had previously been injured.

Hayley was convicted of child endangerment and sentenced to two concurrent terms of five year probation. Woodard was convicted of murder and sentenced to death.

Aric Woodard’s execution has been stayed by the York County Court of Common Pleas. Aric has not yet completed all of his appeals.

Please pray for peace and healing for the family of Jacques Twinn. Please pray for strength for the family of Aric Woodard. Please pray that Aric may come to find peace through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, if he has not already.
